Targaryen, Creative Commons Font

It has been a wile since I last reported on my Targaryen font. The last word I posted here was way back in January when the font was featured on an exhibition. Today I am pleased to announce that I have decided to release the font under the Creative Commons lincese (the exact license is at the bottom of the post). You are now able to download the font’s FontLab Studio source file and modify it to your needs. The only requirement is that you release the modified work under the same Creative Commons license. If you plan on using the font in your commercial projects that’s fine by me, just don’t resell the font (either as your own or mine).

The font includes all the main upper and lower case letters, numbers, punctuation and some special characters (asterisk, at sign and so on). There are no ligatures but feel free to make them. The font is far from perfect or finished for that matter. That, however, does not med that it is unusable. Give it a try and see what can be done.

What is missing and what should be improved:

  • missing ligatures
  • metrics and kerning need improving
  • upper case letter weight at smaller sizes is not good

If you make derivatives of my work please be so kind and drop me a line on Twitter or contact me here so I can add an URL to you work to this post (with your permission). Download links are down below. You should follow me on Twitter here for more stuff like this.

  1. This font is amazing!! I was looking for something JUST like this. Thank you! You should do more fonts like this! 🙂

    1. @devanescence Thank you. I’m glad you liked it. Beware of the metrics and kerning, though – they’re all over the lace because I did not have enough time to take a swing at them. If you make corrections or a derivative of my work or use my font in your work I’d love to see what you did and post about it here if you want.

      1. @uros_m @devanescence if you go to my blog, http://nimbidesign.wordpress.com, i used it on the Targaryen invitations i made that are bein’ blogged about on a couple sites. Check em out, let me know what you think! 🙂

        1. @devanescence  Awesome! You did a fine job with them. Congrats on being featured on WhenGeeksWed.com. Keep up the good work.
